A 3D nuke simulator on real cities

NukeSimulation.com is a nuke simulator in the browser. You place a burst on a globe, pick a yield, and watch simplified blast, heat, and fallout play out over a real city. It is meant to make nuclear effects easier to grasp. It is not a weapon, a targeting aid, or an official damage assessment.
What you can do
Open the simulator, search a city or historic site, then detonate. The free globe uses OpenStreetMap-style tiles. Pro unlocks photorealistic 3D cities from the Google Map Tiles API. You can switch historic weapon yields (Little Boy, Fat Man, Tsar Bomba, and others), set airburst or surface burst, and read blast and thermal rings on the ground.
After a burst, an infographic summarizes overpressure bands, thermal reach, and a casualty estimate. Local fallout is a simplified 48-hour unsheltered dose contour that assumes a uniform wind. It is not a weather forecast.
How the numbers are built
Blast and thermal ranges follow published scaling used in nuclear-effects education (yield to the one-third and similar power laws). They ignore terrain, shielding, weather, and weapon design details. Treat rings as illustrations of order of magnitude, not predictions you should act on.
Casualty figures count residents on an approximately 1 km WorldPop 2020 population grid (CC BY 4.0). They ignore time of day, commuting, shelter, and evacuation. A dense downtown and a park can sit in the same cell.
Why it exists
Two-dimensional blast maps are useful, but they flatten cities into disks. A 3D globe makes height of burst, mushroom-cloud scale, and the size of a city easier to feel. The goal is literacy: what a kiloton means, how airburst and surface burst differ, and why casualty counts are uncertain.
Nuclear weapons cause mass death and long-term harm. This site does not promote their use. If you need official guidance, use government or civil defense sources โ not this visualization.
