Weapon yields in this nuke simulator

Last updated

Each named weapon is a published yield and a default burst height. Blast and thermal rings scale with yield. Terrain, weather, and shielding are ignored. Named weapons stay available on the free globe.

Educational estimate only. Blast and heat rings use simplified yield scaling. They ignore terrain, weather, shielding, and weapon design. Casualty counts use WorldPop 2020 residents on an approximately 1 km grid and ignore time of day, commuting, shelter, and evacuation. This is not a targeting or civil-defense tool. About the model.

Little Boy 15 kt · Hiroshima, 1945 Little Boy is the 15 kt Hiroshima yield in this nuke simulator: fireball, 20/5/1 psi, thermal reach, and links to Hiroshima and modern cities. Fat Man 21 kt · Nagasaki, 1945 Fat Man is the 21 kt Nagasaki yield in this nuke simulator, also used as a Trinity/Gadget analog. Blast rings, thermal reach, and historic pins. W76-2 8.0 kt · low-yield Trident warhead W76-2 is an 8 kt airburst in this 3D nuke simulator: smaller than Little Boy, with blast and thermal rings you can drop on any city. W76-1 90 kt · workhorse Trident warhead W76-1 is a 90 kt airburst in this 3D nuke simulator: a common US SLBM yield with blast rings several times Little Boy’s. W87 300 kt · Minuteman III warhead W87 is a 300 kt airburst in this 3D nuke simulator: Minuteman III-class yield with blast and thermal rings on the globe.
